John & Barbara Hoyt
Genealogical Notes for the year in review;
We have had quite a year with new items for the Genealogy and of New
connections of Hoyt Family Members, namely the G. Marcus Hoyt branch,
that includes Jackie & George, Linda Hoyt & her daughter Elaine,
and meeting another cousin, Amy Jane Hoyt Taylor & Husband Ben.
Amy was born of G. Kenneth & Ane (Bequest) Hoyt, Owen's older
brother, who took over the Suttons Bay Hoyt Pharmacy.
Linda has been gracious, since she lives not far away, in Wyoming,
MI (Grand Rapids), to drive us up North several times so I could visit
the Olson & Moe Families connected to Uncle Owen & Laura Olson
Hoyt & meet the only Hoyt left in Suttons Bay, MI today, Amy Jane.
She has recently celebrated her 88th Birthday, with a pacemaker and
3 stents procedure, nearly 3 weeks prior, and as of 2 weeks ago, had
developed a cold, has been slow to recover. We wish her well. Amy
Jane had the G. Marcus Hoyt film canisters. I had been trying to find
these for nearly 20+ years, and the 2 short 1920-30 16 mm film is
available in VHS & DVD formats if you wish to order them for a
Family Christmas, please do so quickly.
This film (address below, for orders), shows the 1920-30 Hoyt Colegrove,
Fell, Sparling, relations reunion in Remus, MI and also shows HP and
Kittie Hoyt vistiing Suttons Bay. MI. I also have visited Rose City,
MI and have been able to get more family and city background of G.
Marcus Hoyt's wife's family. The Allan S. Rose's, in which, the city
was named after the founder, a phamacist, a postmaster, First Mayor,
owned a Grist Mill, and operated the first General Store before 1870's,
& became a Michigan State Legislator, and was a Civil War Lt.
Colonel.

With new family friends, and new relations of distant cousins, in
NY, WA, and Ohio.
I have had a busy Summer and Fall, and now Winter. I've had to update
my computer with another 160 GB's of memory, as the other 3, hard-drives
totaling 200 GB's were full last year. As you all know, video &
audio files take a lot of memory. I will also have to increase my
web site internet storage memory soon.
I am looking forward to possibly taking a trip, God Willing, to the
New England States this coming year, and then onto England, sometime
in future, to finish up with more research, walking the streets of
our ancestors, in New England and England, will be a highlight in
Genealogy for me, and provide me with details, you cannot get without
being at those locations, (as Don & Cherry Henricks has done),
and will help with the preparation for the book, on our Hoyt ancestors,
and their matriarchal sides, their countries, and places of their
origin, and immigration to America, their reasons for leaving, their
work, struggles, hardships, as well as, happy and meaningful events,
in relation, to family, history, geology, geography, weather, religion,
politics, and have an updated family record, with documents and images,
biographies, and stories, etc. I am conversing with 2 Hoyte's in the
UK, that possibly may be 'our' ancestor, Simon Hoyt's uncles and cousins
sides. We are waiting for dna test results that may be forthcoming
in the coming weeks or month. This is exciting news, if so, as we
would discover the Hoyte's that stayed behind. I have placed both
of their Hoyte families that connect to Simon's Father, Michael. It
is nice that they both have been helping me with research, by visiting
their ancestral roots, homes, and County Records, and even the villages.
Go to the England web page and the Simon Hoyte web page to read more
and view the villages and photos.
Also, I have placed
'our' Hoyt Family lines into the Descendants of the Founders of Windsor,
CT, since Simon Hoyt/e was an original settler and founder of that
ancestral city. Go to our Simon Hoyt/e Web Page for more of our/his
Families history, their ship, one of the 'Lyons Whelps' crossing to
America, & the other cities he settled.
Stay Tuned, and please send me your old albums, VHS tapes, CD's of
photos, when you can. And, Thank You for your feedback, and helping
me to give all our relations a future in leaving a legacy, a history,
for all our grandchildren and beyond. I will scan them and return
them within the same week or so, unless we work out other arrangements.
recently, Ann (Fordham) Anderson, Ruth Hoyt's daughter, was kind enough
to give me her and Ruth's albums, to take back on an airplane, when
I visited her and Bill during brother Jim's Son Nathan & Jen's
wedding this Fall. I will make available a CD or a DVD, and slideshow,
on either format and or, to any family member for letting me borrow
and scan their movies, photos, documents, etc.

The First time I dressed as a Hippie, and Barbara as Audrey Hepburn's
Role in Breakfast at Tiffany's' and Audrey's wardrobe, sort of.
